Current Members

Jeffryn Stephens, Co-Founder and Director
Co-founder of YPPC, Jeffryn has been a member of the board since YPPC’s inception in 1982.  The mother of two YPPC alumni, Jeffryn currently has a third generation actively involved in the theater as three grandchildren continue the tradition of YPPC performers in the Stephens family.  In addition to her responsibilities at YPPC Jeffryn teaches drama at the Durham Academy Middle School. She is an active member in the Durham Civic Choral Society.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College in Dramatic Arts with and emphasis on directing and acting and a Minor in Music with an emphasis on voice.

Rich Kless, President
A board member for 3 years, Rich, his wife Susie and their twin sons Tyler and Colin are all active members in YPPC.  As Theater Operations Supervisor at Duke University, Rich oversees the technical details of all of the major campus venues.  In collaboration with Susie, Rich also helped to created 2 Peas in a Pod Productions in Wilmington NC which was a company of adults performing classic fairy tales as well as contemporary works for kids.  Rich began performing at the age of 10 and has since been in over 100 shows, including two staff productions for YPPC.

Sherrill Hudson, Past President
A member of the board for 16 years, Sherrill is the mother of two grown YPPC alumni. She is an entrepreneur running her own In-Home Daycare.  She attended Woodstock and now enjoys raising chickens. She majored in Philosophy.

Katharine Somerville Whitmore, Past President
A board member for the past 17 years, Katharine is the mother of two grown-ish daughters, ages 23 and 20 who both participated in YPPC from kindergarten through high school. Katharine has part time positions in Duke’s undergraduate admissions office and for the Duke University String School.  She loves gardening, reading and attending YPPC productions.  Katharine has her AB and MA in History from Duke University.

Kimberly Hirsh
Kimberly is a YPPC alumna.  As a YPPC student, she performed in only 8 shows in her brief stint as a member of the Master's Company from 1997-1999, but has stage managed quite a few since then (and even snuck on stage in a couple!) and produced the alumni productions for the past three years.  She proudly holds the title of one of the partners in the first ever YPPC alumni marriage (the rest of the board said it was the first one, anyway).  She shares the title with Will Cross. Kimberly has a BA in Dramatic Art and Classics (Latin), an MA in Teaching (Latin), and is currently pursuing an MS in Library Science, all from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Anne Wylie, Retired Costumer
Ann has been a board member since 2002 and is the YPPC Costumer.  She is the mother of two grown children and came to YPPC on the recommendation of a friend whose daughter was actively involved in the Knights class.  Passionate about travel, Anne has recently toured China, Africa and Japan.  Anne has a BA from the University of Michigan in Liberal Arts.

Christopher and Karen  Ciccone
Karen and Christopher have been board members since 2013. They have two children, Lucie (12) and Milo (8). Lucie has participated in YPPC since she was four years old. Karen works as a librarian at NC State University and Christopher works as a photographer at the North Carolina Museum of Art. We both have wide-ranging interests in science and the arts.

Candace Jones, Past President
A treasured board member for 16 years, Candy had breast cancer and took her final bow August 26th, 2009. Please visit our page honoring her life.
